Ad Hoc Development was founded in 2000 by a small group of Database Programmers who were looking to generate additional revenue for themselves by opening small businesses online using open source shopping cart software.
Being mostly SQL programmers specializing in Data Warehousing and Dimensional Data Modeling, there was a bit of a learning curve as we assimilated various shopping carts that were written in PHP and Perl. Being perfectionists, and wanting our online businesses to perfect, we labored for many months, customizing, and making modifications, until finally, we were finished.
Unfortunately, once the development was over, we quickly realized that day to day operation of these new businesses was not really what interested us. What interested us was building the business, developing the website, and solving the technical problems the business had in an online store. So, we sold our businesses, and began helping others achieve their goal of owning an online storefront. Eventually, we combined our new web design capabilities with our years of experience in Database programming in a one stop shop for nearly all technical aspects of owning a business online.
